October 12-13, 2010 - Holiday Inn - Kearney, Nebraska

The Nebraska Council of School Administrators, ESU's and the Nebraska Department of Education  are partnering to provide a comprehensive and informative conference on technologies available and utilized in Nebraska schools. Today's students are actively engaged in using technology.  They are early adapters of new technology and appear to be light-years ahead of the rest of the adult world.  We challenge school leaders to understand and to successfully integrate technology and to develop 21st century schools.

Digital kids are fundamentally different and the new digital generation is very different from ours.  They love access to tools that let them multitask with peers and to connect everyone and everything to everything and everyone!  Social network sites, online games, video-sharing sites, and gadgets such as iPods and mobile phones are now fixtures of our youth culture. They have so permeated and captivated young people and it is hard to believe that less than a decade ago these technologies barely existed.

Digital kids are increasingly experiencing a digital world that is increasingly – some say completely – out of synch with traditional approaches and assumptions about teaching, learning, and assessment.  Progressive educators must work diligently to adopt and to integrate technology as part of the learning environment and classroom. It is important that school leaders are aware of current and new technology and how it can positively impact the school environment. Today's administrators must take an active and informed leadership role in the discussions, purchasing, and the integration of technology.
